To help ease your mind, below are several frequently asked questions to provide insight on our career opportunities, application, and interview process.
Before You Apply
What is it like to work at Dierbergs?
We recommend visiting one of our stores to get a feel for what it’s like to work at Dierbergs. Whether you are interested in a store opportunity, a position at a production facility or an opportunity at our corporate office, our stores can tell you a lot about our awesome Associates, quality products and the pride we take in everything we do.

What positions do you have available?
Many of our openings are for store positions, such as part-time Cashier or Deli/Seafood Associate. Additionally, we offer full-time Associate opportunities.
If retail management interests you, we provide opportunities across departments as Assistant Department Managers or as Manager Trainees overseeing store-wide operations.
If behind the scenes in a production environment is more your thing, we have positions ranging from Production/Warehouse Associates and Management. I searched for the position/location I’m interested in and didn’t see it listed, what do I do?
Our opportunities are updated frequently. We encourage you to check back, or you can join our Talent Network to be notified when a position or location of interest is available.
What availability do you look for when hiring?
Availability requirements vary by position. Our store hours are 6am-10pm, 7 days a week, including holidays (we are closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day). Evenings, weekends, and holidays are our busiest periods, so we look for flexibility to work during these times. Our production facilities typically operate from 5am-9pm, Monday-Saturday, with the occasional Sunday. Holidays may affect these hours. Our Corporate Office typically has a Monday through Friday work schedule. Given the nature of our business, it’s important to be flexible in scheduling no matter what location or position you work in.
How old do I have to be to work at Dierbergs?
You must be at least 16 years old to work at Dierbergs.
Do you have an Associate Referral Program?
Yes, we have an Associate referral program! If you know someone who works at Dierbergs, we encourage you to connect with them and learn more about what it’s like to work here. If you decide to apply and someone referred you, please list their name on your application.
Application Process
How long does the application take to complete?
Our application takes just a few minutes to complete.
I don’t have a computer. Can I complete the application on a mobile device?
Yes, our application is mobile-friendly and can be filled out on a smartphone, tablet, or any other mobile device.
Can I apply for multiple jobs?
Yes, you can apply for more than one position at once. However, we recommend narrowing your choices down to a few jobs that truly match your skills, experience, and interests. A member of our talent team will contact you to discuss what positions may best align with your skills and experience.
I have previously applied/interviewed and wasn’t selected. May I reapply?
If you were not selected for the positions you applied for, you may reapply to a similar or alternate position at any time. We recommend waiting a year so that you can gain additional experience before reapplying.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
If you do not remember your password, click here. If a match is found with your email address, a reset link will be sent to you.
My contact information has changed. How can I update my application?
You can update your application at any time by signing into the system and updating your application. Click here to update your application.
How soon will I be contacted after submitting my application?
After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email. Our Talent Team works diligently to contact all candidates within 2-5 business days of receiving an application. We connect with applicants via email, text message and phone, so please check your messages regularly.
Will you let me know when a position has been filled?
If you still have not heard back regarding your application after 2-5 days, we may have moved forward with another candidate. Keep an eye out for future opportunities and reapply when a suitable position becomes available. We also keep your information on file for future consideration.
Interview Preparation and Follow-Up
Congratulations on your upcoming interview! Here are some tips to help you prepare:
- Review the job description to ensure you understand the position and prepare any clarifying questions.
- Research our company website prior to your interview to get to know us better.
- Be prepared to discuss your prior experiences and successes you've had.
- Feel free to wear attire that reflects your personal style while ensuring it aligns with a professional setting. We believe in creating a welcoming environment, and your choice of attire should reflect your readiness to interview.
- Interviews take place at multiple locations and may be held at your preferred location or a nearby regional location. Take the time to do a quick search and find out how long it will take you to get there. To avoid feeling rushed, plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your interview.
- Turn your phone off before the interview to avoid distractions.
- Be you! Bring your authentic self. We look forward to getting to know you!
- Ask questions. This is your opportunity to get to know us and see if the position and Dierbergs are a good fit for you too!
- Make sure you get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast the day of your interview!
What should I expect during my interview process?
The interview process will vary by position, but be advised that background checks, which may include drug screens, may be conducted for all positions. Reference checks are conducted for corporate and management positions. See below for an overview of what to expect:
Store/Production Associates:
- Phone or Text Screen: Conducted with a member of the Talent Team
- In-person interview: Conducted with a member of the Talent Team or a Store/Production Manager.
- Final review and offer: All candidates are reviewed and considered, with many positions being offered at the time of the interview.
Store/Production Management:
- Phone interview: Conducted with a member of the Talent Team.
- Assessment: Some positions require completion of an assessment.
- In-person interview: With a member of the Talent Team and the Department Supervisor or Plant Manager.
- Final review and offer: All candidates are reviewed and considered before an offer is made.
Corporate:
- Phone interview: Initial interview with a member of the Talent Team.
- In-person or virtual interview: Conducted with a member of the Talent Team and the Hiring Manager.
- Assessment: Many positions require completion of an assessment.
- Second in-person interview: Includes the Talent Team, Hiring Manager, and potential colleagues and key individuals the candidate will interact with.
- Additional interviews: Depending on the position level, further in-person interviews or a store visit may be required.
- Final review and offer: All candidates are reviewed and considered before an offer is made.
Can I follow up after my interview?
Our Talent Acquisition Team aims to follow up with candidates as soon as a hiring decision is made. Feel free to send a follow-up or thank you email to the Talent Acquisition Partner to forward to the Hiring Manager and other interviewers.
